The public enjoys the marathon in large numbers
An enormous amount of driving enthusiasts, day trippers and tourists came to the ‘Paardenspektakel’ – the international driving event today to watch the marathon. They got to see beautiful sport. The atmosphere was great and, with the encouragement of the speakers, the audience did the wave as the Dutch and Belgian favorites drove by.
Flying Dutchman Ewoud Boom won the marathon in pairs. Dressage winner Martin Hölle came in third, but is still proudly in the lead in the standings. With the four-in-hand Bram Chardon added a little extra. He increased his lead by also winning the marathon and leads the standings with just under 128 penalty points. Koos de Ronde was eager to win the marathon, but had to settle for second place in two obstacles. His beautiful marathon result has lifted him to second place in the standings.
