Like so many events, the international pairs and four-in-hand competition in Beekbergen did not take place in 2020 and 2021. As an organization, we were ready for months, but the Covid regulations created too many obstacles for us to run the event as we all know and love it. However, we rather look into the future!
With this newsletter we would like to share our ambitious plans, ideas, and wishes!
From July 28-31, 2022, Riant Equestrian Centre will once again be dominated by the prestigious pair- and four-in-hand competition. Not only will the world’s best international driving competitors return to Beekbergen, the last weekend of July will also host the Dutch Championships for Four-in-hand and Para driving – top sport assured!!
After two years of ‘rest’, we’re back even more energetically than ever! Relationships with the municipality and province have been strengthened and the plans for 2022 have been shaped. We’ve already started on the improvements of the Riant Equestrian Centre; the main ring has now been completely overseeded, in the coming months most marathon obstacles will be removed from the ground to be completely renovated in the spring – some will be built in the same location, some obstacles in a different location; but everything will be arranged in such a way that it will be even more public-friendly and even more challenging for our competitors. In 2022 we also want to involve the inhabitants of Apeldoorn-Beekbergen more and become a connecting factor in sporting activities of educational programs, give basic sport a stage, and much more – plans are overflowing!
We have not only thought about the 2022 event but made a multi-year plan with our goals and ambitions. And those ambitions are high: we want to organize an international championship in 2025. With that goal in mind, we will approach sponsors, partners and supporters in the coming months to move this incredible goal forward. And look forward to hearing from employees, volunteers and suppliers how we will work towards this dot on the horizon.
