Royal Kickoff for the World Pair Driving Championship!

Royal Kickoff for the World Pair Driving Championship!

On Wednesday evening, August 20, Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet will officially open the World Pair Driving Championship at Riant Equestrian Centre in Beekbergen. A truly special moment — Princess Margriet was actively involved in the driving sport for many years and shares her love of horses with many of the competitors and visitors.

During the opening evening, royal tradition will come to life with a magnificent presentation by the Carriage and Riding Stables of the Royal Stables Department. Historic carriages, beautifully harnessed Friesian and KWPN horses, and coachmen in traditional attire — a unique opportunity to experience this ceremonial grandeur up close.

And that’s just the beginning. Expect a parade of all World Championship participants, spectacular shows, live entertainment, a thrilling race act, and a festive finale with Crazy Pianos On Tour.

“We are incredibly proud as a family that Her Royal Highness will perform the opening,” says organizer Mieke van Tergouw. “Her deep involvement in the driving sport makes this all the more special.”

📍 The World Pair Driving Championship runs from August 20 to 24 and is free to attend. Enjoy five full days of world-class sport, entertainment, and fun for all ages. Tribune seats and exclusive VIP packages are available for the best views.
