Beekbergen, August 20–24, 2025 – Dutch national coach Ad Aarts has announced the selected pair drivers who will represent the Netherlands at the FEI World Championship for Pairs, taking place at the stunning grounds of Riant Equestrian Centre in Beekbergen.
Aarts will take seven pair drivers to the championship. The Dutch team, consisting of three pairs, includes newly crowned national champion Stan van Eijk, runner-up Erik Evers, and Rens Egberink.
“Stan and Erik have been very consistent this season, which is exactly what we want for the team competition,” Aarts explains. “They are particularly strong in dressage and cones. Rens has shown great progress in the marathon phase this year, which makes him a key asset for that part of the competition. If someone from the team has to withdraw, I have three strong individual competitors to choose from as substitutes.”
Experience Meets Newcomers
The three drivers representing TeamNL in the Nations Cup all bring championship experience. This will be Van Eijk’s fifth World Championship, Evers debuted in 2023 and won a team bronze, and it’s the second World Championship for Egberink, just like Anna de Ronde, who will compete as an individual.
Mathijn Wevers and Sanny Hagen-Dijkhuis will make their World Championship debuts on home soil. Frank van der Doelen, who has competed in five World Championships for singles, will now make his first appearance in the pairs division.
Final Preparations
Coach Aarts and the drivers will continue training intensely over the next two months.
“The competition calendar has been tricky this year,” says Aarts, “so we’re focusing on extra training sessions to keep everyone in the right rhythm. Most important is that the horses are fit and healthy when they get to compete in front of a home crowd against the best in the world.”
